Another lovely day en Normandie!

Coach B began by practising language skills at Deauville market and enjoyed some French delicacies during a picnic afterwards.  Every single pupil made an effort to speak French. Staff were really impressed by how well they spent their money and the variety of foods purchased.  'My boys did me proud' said one of the parents.  At Pegasus Bridge we learnt some history.  Pupils showed their interest through asking educated questions, and a member of the public took the trouble to tell Mr Scrivener how impressed she was with the group's behaviour.  and reflected on happenings in the past at Ranville Cemetry.  The pupils were visibly moved.

Coach A concentrated on learning about food produced in the area.  First stop: the organic bakery 'Co-pains' where Eric the baker explained the reasons and the science behind his decision to set up the cooperative.  The pupils showed resilience in understanding new French words, (Eric speaks very clear French and gives loads of clues for working out meanings) then followed his instructions to make dough with 4 ingredients... ask the pupils what they were when they get home!  Next stop, the goat farm.  Jacques shares Eric's philosophy on organic production, told us about the process of making his goats' cheese (one of the only in Normandy using non pasteurised milk) and then let us loose with the goats.  It was delightful to see them discover the pleasure of milking!  Finally we hit the hypermarket and enjoyed le shopping.

Back at Ma Normandie, we completed our journals, ate and enjoyed free time before bed.

A demain!
