Guest blogger, Pier, days.."back in Engand now..it wasn't like this in France!".
We are trying to capture lightning on film!  Watch this space!

At the port!

All the coaches are getting an earlier boat leaving at 5.15 French time,  so we should be arriving between 7.15 and 7.30 at school.  We will start the phone once we are at Dover just in case there are any delays on the ferry. À bientôt! :-)

A la chocolaterie!

Coaches A and C unite for a chocolate experience!

Le Mans 24 heures!

Louis had been curious about the number of super cars he was sitting on our journey.  All was revealed at La Baie De Somme where enthusiasts were making their way to Le Mans 24 heures motor race.  Car owners loved our enthusiasm and some of us even got to sit in a Ferrari F413!

Joyeux anniversaire Eleanor!

Happy birthday Eleanor!

Coach B update

Coach B

The students met the exuberant Eric who bakes bread.  And when he asks a question, he expects an answer!  They enjoyed kneading and learning about the process of baking bread.  They will be tucking into it alongside their dinner this evening!

They then met Jacques, the goat farmer and listened attentively to his explanation of the processes involved.  They tried th echeese before meeting the goats and they even tried milking them.  The 'kids'  in the field got the most attention.

Then on to the hypermarket where the pupils had time go to the shops and use their French to purchase souvenirs of the trip.

Mr Scrivener is still the undefeated table champion as of 19:15 CET.

A lively game before dinner!

The beach at Asnelles

While one half of the group was making biscuits he other half went to see the Mulberry harbour close up and relax a little!  Here is Mr Baldwin practising his parcours skills.

La biscuiterie

So proud of our pupils who responded so enthusiastically to the biscuit maker at Asnelles. They are now fluent in ingredients! Families can look forward to being offered a delicious biscuit when we get home.

ARROMANCHES

Here is an official coach A photo taken tside the Arromanches 360 cinema... an exceptional experience to commemorate soldiers and civilians who lost their lives during the 100 days of la bataille de Normandie.

Mercredi 10 juin

Coach B

We loved the biscuiterie.. making, cooking and eating les biscuits!  We then had lunch at the Batterie at Longues sur Mer, huddled together, before running to the gun emplacements.  Then on to the 360 Cinema where history came to life!  When we came out of the cinema we went up to the viewing point where the wind was strong enough to push you along.  Then along to the Bayeux tapestry which is housed in a magnificent building.  The pupils had an audio guide through each stage of the tapestry to understand the full story, finishing off with a helpful documentary within the cinema.

Coach A We planned our picnic at Ma Normandie and practised our French.  Then on to Cabourg market where groups of children were given money to buy the ingredients for a picnic.  It was lovely to see them making so much effort and several were complimented on their French - one group even getting some free shrimps from the stallholder as a reward.  We then walked to la plage to play on the beach, eating une glace on the way.  Back to le jardin public where groups produced beautiful spreads, then back on the coach to Pegasus museum.  We walked down to the monuments showing where three gliders landed so skilfully after midnight and had taken the bridge by 12.30 then went up to the memorial museum where we watch a 12-minute film then listened to a guide showing us the original bridge and a replica glider.  It was very fitting to end the day with a visit to Ranville cemetery, reading the headstones, and finding one which commemorated a former school pupil.

The day was rounded off with a reunion of all coaches on Merveille plage.  It was great to see Coach C.  Mr Tunmore said that everything has gone well, and everyone was happy!
